Family Update

Alright, I admit that I am not the most up to date blogger. But I am going to try harder now that we live so far away. Which needs explaining itself...as some still might not know we moved or why.

We have moved to Saint Charles, Missouri. It is a suburb on the west side of St. Louis on the other side of the Missouri river. The cities near St. Louis all finger in and out of each other. So instead of having one suburn of 70,000 like Nampa is to Boise, there are like 80something smaller cities of anywhere from 3,000 to 20,000. Even though it all seems the same to me:)

ANyway, Torrey found this amazing job in St. Louis, we had been looking around for a few months as his job situation began to "fizzer" but honestly, I had to look on a map to know exactly where Missouri was. Yes I'd heard of it but didn't know it was as far south as it is.

In late July we flew out here for job interviews and to pick out a house, we flew home, i went to Dallas a day later for a week, then the Cabin for a few days then came home, packed and we were gone. That fast.

It had only been a month since the job interview and moving in to this house. Mind you the home I picked out when we came in July fell through and I had to pick one out on the internet.

With the help of Lacee and Houston, we drove out here driving 18 hours! the first day then the final 6 the next.

We lived at Rennaissance Suites for a week waiting on our moving truck. Triton calls it our first home...fine by me!

Triton started school and Torrey started work the following Monday and we are feeling more normal now.

Grant's Farm

On Saturday September 11th we took went out on one of our first adventures. We are finding that a lot of places in the St. Louis area are free like the zoo, historical sites, museums, ect.
We took the boys to Ulysses S. Grant's farm. It is called Grant's Farm. It is about 20 minutes from our house and was fun to drive a new route and see some animals!

Halloween

Halloween was so much fun this year. Logan and Jen came to trick or treat with the boys and Jen's mom, Dianne came to take the boys' pictures. Dianne obviously has a talent, so I have to share her good work!

Logan was such a sport to dress up as spider man for Triton, We even got Jen to be his pretty witch for trick or treating. If only parents were as much fun as Aunts and Uncles, huh?

Summer of 2009

Since it is almost Thanksgiving, I better follow my own lead of posting 2 seasons too late. But we had a fun eventful summer, I better attempt to catch up!

We started our summer with our annual trip to Florida. Every year we look forward to spending 2 weeks at Cape Cannaveral. So off we went, Lana, Triton, Taylan, Lacee, Hagen and of course our biggest fan Granny B.

Torrey flew out half way through the trip to take Triton to NASA (yes again!) and mainly because I can't survive two weeks without my buddy. Torrey actually really enjoyed Florida this year, being right on the ocean makes it much cooler for him.

Lacee and I tried to take the boys down to the beach for sunset pictures. Which didn't work out how we planned. They ended up soaking wet, totally not photogenic. But typical boys! In Lacee's picture she is ducking because hagen had just chucked a truck straight in the air above their heads.

After Florida we enjoyed the typical July activities including attending Houston's first fair and the Roberts' Family cabin all in 5 days, pretty wild, but fun.

2nd Honeymoon

Torrey and I took a trip in March to visit his sister Lacy and her family in Naples, Florida. We had not been anywhere together without the kids, well, since we had kids. So we figured it was time to get away. We felt bad that in 3 years we had never visited them in Wyoming but came to Florida within a month of them being there.

The first evening we just hung out with their kids and then drove around town checking it out and finding all the good spots to listen to bands and eat on the beach.

Day 2 we were ready to tour, with no kids, we were able to come and go as we pleased. IT WAS GREAT! First we went to the Everglades.

Torrey made me go on some Indian Jones-type hike in the woods, it was very interesting, very swampy and definately an "out in the boondocks" place. The wildlife was really neat, the aligator in these pictures was huge, and just sitting there. Torrey obviously thought it was great but there was no way I was turning my back to that thing or getting any closer.

That night we met Lacy and Ryan in Naples and went on a double date. We hardly ever get to spend time with them alone so it was fun. We were tired and decided to go home a bit early and let Lacy and Ryan "paint the town"

Day 3 We spent most the day (well I guess afternoon since we got real use to sleeping in until noon) we went to the beach. That afternoon the kids and Lacy and Ryan joined us at the beach which was fun. The girls and I picked shells and made little necklaces. I loved getting to pamper the gifls and shop for them a little gift each day. Girls are so fun to shop for.

Naples was great, but wanted to visit Clearwater Beach and be closer to the airport for our flight the next day. So we headed to Clearwater Beach, got a last minute room and realized we had hit College Spring Break. We imediately felt really old, but glad that we were much wiser than most of the people around us. The sunset there is great, they have a big celebration for it everynight.

The next day we went to an aquarium which I loved because of the animals.

The day we flew out we decided to go to the Tampa Zoo. It is suppose to be one of the best, which it was great, but being spring time there were lots of baby animals. It didn't take long before we were missing the boys. We had tons of fun but were ready to go home. You know when all you starting talking about is the kids, that it is time to go home. We came back so relaxed, had figured out our retirement dreams, and realized that after 8 years of marriage we still have the most fun together.

We are still alive

Ok so when Torrey mentions that I haven't blogged in a while I guess it is time to update. One HUGE problem...I left off at Christmas! Too much has happened since then. so I guess I'll have to do this little by little.
