Obviously I am very behind! My attempt to catch up is not going to work unless I just summarize what we have been up to.
December: For Christmas we flew home to Idaho. It was so nice to be back in Boise again. I didn't realize how much I loved Boise until we left. This was our first time back since moving and we had a lot of ground to cover, here's a brief of what we did:
*Stayed with Torrey's brother Don and his family
*drove to utah to see my brother Logan coach (twice) I especially enjoyed getting to spend the whole time in the car with my dad catching up on life
*went to Carey to visit Lacee and her boys
*Lunch in Twin with Granny B
*visiting Buz and Nel
*picking up Tor at the Salt Lake Airport and on to another basketball game
*Celebrating Taylan's 4th birthday
*Visiting Nana and Papa Rick and uncle Gage.
*Visiting Grandpa and Grandma Roberts for late-night talks and icecream:)
*Christmas with family at Roberts', Dacia, Tabrina, Tabrina's boyfriend J.R., and watching the boys play with their cousin Griff.
*Having my sister arrive the day after Christmas with some new bling on her left hand!
*Back to Boise to stay with Torrey's friend Mike
*Staying with Don and Tracy again before flying back out.
WHEW! by the time it was all said and done, I realized that we had stayed at 11 different places in 15 days. Between all the coming and going it was wild. But so worth it.
January and February:
Torrey was still traveling a lot. Poor guy would fly out on a Sunday and back on a Friday. We would make it through the week without him, and live for the weekends when we could all be together again. Our first St. Louis winter was interesting to experience ice storms and snow days for just a skiff of snow. Triton loved the extra time home!
March:
For spring break we drove to Idaho, making it in just 2 days, a long 24 hour drive. We made it to Jerome late Friday night, then on to Boise the next morning to see Torrey's brother Gage play in the State Basketball tournament.
Christmas had been so wild running from home to home, that I decided we would stay in one spot this time. We stayed with my sister in Carey. We were able to visit everyone else but it was nice to leave the suitcase in one spot for a while. We also took the boys to Twin Falls to stay in a motel, go to Mardi Katz and swim in the pool. They have so much fun when all 4 of them are together!
Torrey's parents and Gage drove back with me to Missouri. Tor had to come back for work earlier, so it was nice to have someone on the long drive with me. The boys loved teasing Uncle Gage and getting spoiled rotten by Nana and Papa Rick. While they were in St. Louis we went to our favorite Italian restaurants, Daniel Boone's home, past the Arch, showed them around the St. Louis area and in to see Torrey's new office. It was great to have them here to visit.
April, May, and June:
The home search began! Every Sunday we would load the kids and go to all the Open Houses. It was nice to be able to look at a lot of homes and be picky. We had looked at probably 20-30 homes before we found "the one." We were so excited to be back in a smaller home, our rental was 3 levels and way too big (too much cleaning:) for us.
At the end of May we wrapped up Triton's Kindergarten year and started packing things up again.
As moving day approached, as life happens, Torrey was swamped at work. He had made several trips to other states and was working a lot. So my Mom flew out to help us the week of moving. What a blessing! I would have been an emotional mess without her. The sad thing is, all we did was pack, clean and haul stuff. We didn't even make it to her favorite downtown St. Charles spot. Good thing she is coming back in July.
Tornado Season:
Yes, we lived through the worst tornado season St. Louis has had in several decades. It didn't go without scare. We had some really intense tornados come through here. Almost every other week we would hear the Tornado Sirens and head to the basement. One thing about a Tornado it will make you realize just how powerless you are! It was devistating to see the distruction just miles from us, but made us count our blessings that we weren't hurt.
